READING CONCERTS by Poet Laressa Dickey (USA, Berlin) and singer-songwriter Lily Kiara ( Amsterdam). They first met in Berlin in 2010. They gradually became more acquainted with each others work and continued meeting and exchanging. The mutual and ever growing inspiration led to their first sharing of reading/concerts in 2014, including poetry by Laressa Dickey and folk pop songs by Lily Kiara. These first performances together were at intimate and personally favourite venues in Berlin: St. George's Bookstore and Ladenkino.

In 2016 they follow up with new work: 26 May at St. George's Bookstore in Prenzlauerberg / 28 May an intimate concert in a studio at Greifswalderstrasse details here

Laressa Dickey (USA, Berlin) is a poet, dancer, and somatic worker. She’s the author of several chapbooks including A Piece of Information About His Invisibility and apparatus for manufacturing sunset. Her collection Bottomland was published in 2014 by Shearsman Books, and a second is forthcoming later in 2016 and is titled [Roam]. In 2017, The Backwaters Press will publish a collection entitled Twang.
“Laressa Dickey is a shape-shifter of sounds and images and spirits. In the maze of Bottomland, meanings are taken apart, rebirthed with new forces, burnt into new worlds. No one can walk out of this maze untouched.” – Wang Ping, author of The Last Communist Virgin

Singer-songwriter Lily Kiara (Amsterdam, NL) plays folky songs that have become more and more storytelling over the years. She writes melodies with a melancholic undertone and performs with a poetic stillness, in which she engages the audience. Ani DiFranco, Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell are inspirations, among many others.
In 2015, Lily toured through 12 states in the USA, between NYC and New Orleans, together with the International Songwriters Collective (ISC) and then solo in Texas. In 2016 she plans to tour the West Coast and Southern States of the USA, with JR and Jimmy Robinson.
Her new album Fishing In The Field releases 17 June 2016, for the first time on Zip Records. Socially engaged songs of people in different circumstances and stages of life. In December 2015 the album The SWIM SESSIONS by her band The RIVER came out on her own label for music and poetry Sibyl Sings, recorded live at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam. The RIVER plays a melange of folky songs, improvisations and English spoken poetry.

 ”…of an impressive soberness.”
